Why consult with me?
Lotteries appeal to the fundamental optimism of players. Most of us can appreciate the feeling side of lottery play. In order to make money, lotteries must also master the calculating side of lottery play - the quantitative part. When the quantitative part supports the feeling part, players are engaged and the lottery makes money. My goal is to provide expert quantitative support for the feeling side of the enterprise. I have the skills to teach, advise, and challenge your team to make the most of your business.
Our Story
Where did I come from?
I am a life scientist by training, with a Ph.D. in Biology and postdoctoral experience in psychology. After an adventurous 15 years in science, I went to work for the State of Washington and its Lottery. Happily, I found scope for rigorous thought, invention, and teaching in the lottery industry. Now that my session with Washington is concluded, I am ready to work in the broader world again!
Meet Me
You may find me in alliances around the gaming industry, but under "Lottery Management Consulting, LLC" you see me solo. You may have seen my articles in the Insights magazine published by the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (they are assembled here, too). Since I don't do Facebook, I suppose it's OK to tell you here that in addition to socializing at those industry functions where we may have met, I enjoy being outdoors where I live. Right now that includes crew rowing, riding (yes to horses and bicycles, no to motors), and gardening. Indoors is fine t00!

Originally from West Virginia, I have lived in Indiana, Colorado, Rheinland-Pfalz (Germany), and Washington, along the way earning a doctorate in Biology (Indiana U) and doing a postdoc in Psychology (U Colorado).
